Part 1: Ever Needed to Record Your iPhone’s Screen?
Phones are a huge part of our lives. There’s a rush of information coming from all over the place. You can’t always give attention to all of this information at the same time.
This is where screen recording comes in. You can record an important piece of information on your phone screen and stow it away for later. In the past, screen recording was not possible on an iPhone. Apple didn’t even allow any screen recording apps to show up on the Apple store.
But lucky for us, Apple realized its mistake and introduced this feature in iOS 11. If you’re using a device with iOS 11 or higher, you have a screen recording feature on your device. In the following article, I will take you through the process of setting up screen recording on your iPhone and using it.
Part 2: Setting Up Screen Recording on Your iPhone
If you’ve read up until this point, you know that iOS 11 or higher comes with an in-built screen recording feature. Even though the feature is present in your iPhone, it can be difficult to find it. In this section, I will take you through the steps to enable screen recording on your iPhone.
In order to enable screen recording on your iPhone, you need to add it to the control center. To do this, follow these steps:
Step 1 – On your iPhone, open Settings.
Step 2 – Scroll through the settings to find Control Center and then tap on it.
Step 3 – Next, tap on Customize Controls.
Step 4 – On the next screen, you will see two sets of settings. One will be labeled as Included Controls. While the other will be labeled as More Controls. The goal is to move Screen Recording from More Controls to Included Controls if it’s not already moved there.
Step 5 – To enable Screen Recording, you need to press the Add icon next to it. This will effectively move it to the Included Controls list.
This way, you can enable Screen Recording on your iPhone to access it easily later on.
Part 3: It’s Time to Start Recording!
Now that you have enabled screen recording on your phone, the next step is to start using it. To learn how to use screen recording on your iPhone, you can follow the steps below.
If you remember the steps where you enabled screen recording, you’ll remember that we moved the screen recording feature to the Control Center. So that is where we can access this feature.
Step 1 – Open the Control Center on your iPhone. There are two ways to do this:
- If you have a device without a home button, you can do this if you swipe down from your phone’s top-right corner.
- If you have an iPhone with a Home Button, the process will be a bit different. For these devices, you can access Control Center by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.
Step 2 – When you open the control center, you’ll see a bunch of tools you can access. Among them will be the screen recording icon in the form of a circle. Here you can do two things:
- If you tap the icon once, you’ll start a new recording session. Once the session starts, you can close the control center and record whatever you want on the screen. This won’t interrupt your recording. If you want to stop the recording session, you can tap on the red oval indicator that shows time. You can then confirm that you want to actually end the recording by tapping on Stop.
- On the other hand, if you want to change some settings related to screen recording, you can do it from Control Center as well. For this, just press and hold the screen recording icon. It will open a bunch of options you can change for your recording session. From here, you can turn the mic on or off and even enable a broadcasting application like Discord if you have it.
Step 3 – In case you want to end screen recording, you can tap the red oval indicator that shows time elapsed. You can find this indicator at the top corner of your screen. When you tap the indicator, it will ask you to confirm your decision to end the recording. Tap Stop if you’re sure.
Step 4 – To access your screen recording, you can go to the Photos app on your iPhone. All your recordings will appear here.
This way, you can use screen recording directly from the shortcut that appears on the control center. Now that you have followed all these steps, you are ready to start recording.
You now have the ability to record your iPhone’s screen whenever you want. And all of these recordings will be present in your Photos app. When you’re finally free, you can peruse these recordings to see important information.
You can even share these screen recordings with other people, just like your photos or other videos. This can be very beneficial for those of you who are trying to fix an issue on your phone and need help with a particular step. You can just record the process and send the video to the relevant person for help.
The process is the same for both iPhones and iPads. So, you can similarly record your screen on your iPad too. Handy, isn’t it?
