How to Reset iPhone Without Passcode and Computer in 2021
I recently changed my iPhone 8 to get a 12 and faced a pretty disturbing problem. As I was using the phone with Touch ID for a long time, I forgot the password. You need to reset the phone before selling it for obvious reasons, and that needs the passcode. You cannot erase the phone with the Touch ID. So I had to go through a lot of things to try and erase the phone, and I didn’t even have iTunes.
I thought many fellow iPhone users might also face a similar problem, and to solve this problem for them, I researched the internet and found out the methods that work. Let’s see how I did it and, by extension, how you can do the same.
- Part 1: Resetting an iPhone Without Passcode and Computer
- Part 2. Reset iPhone Without Passcode and iTunes Via LockAway
- Part 3: Method to avoid
Part 1: Resetting an iPhone Without Passcode and Computer
There are three methods that you can use to reset an iPhone without a computer. You can do it by using iCloud, through the Find my iPhone app.
1. Reset via iCloud
This method will only work if you have enabled Find My iPhone on the device. If you fulfill this condition, here’s how you can erase the iPhone using iCloud:
Step 1 – On any device that has a working internet connection and a web browser, open www.icloud.com.
Step 2 – Log in using the iCloud ID and password of the account associated with the iPhone you want to erase. Provide the two-factor authentication if asked for.
Step 3 – Go to the Find my iPhone option and go to the device you need to erase.
Step 4 – Click erase and confirm your selection to permanently erase the iPhone.
This method can help you reset an iPhone without a computer, iTunes, and the screen lock passcode of the phone. However, you have to enter the iCloud ID and password to let iCloud remotely connect to your phone and erase it. Find My iPhone must also be enabled, and the target device must be connected to the internet. If you don’t fulfill any of those conditions, there are other methods to get this done. Read on to know them.
2. Reset the iPhone Using the Find My iPhone App
This method works in the same way as the one described above, but instead of going to www.icloud.com, you use Find My iPhone app. Here’s how you can do that:
Step 1 – Install and launch the Find My iPhone or Find My App on your device.
Step 2 – Log in to the app and go to the devices section. Open the device you want to erase.
Step 3 – Tap erase and then tap continue to confirm your selection and erase the device.
The limitations of this method include:
- You need a secondary device to complete the process.
- A working internet connection on both devices is needed.
- Your Apple ID and password of the account associated with the target device are needed.
- All data on the device and your settings will also be deleted.
All in all, it is not the most convenient method to get the job done. A lot of steps are involved, and you need to have the ID and password.
Part 2. Reset iPhone Without Passcode and iTunes Via LockAway
No matter if you do not know the passcode of your iPhone or the Apple ID and password of your account, you can still reset the phone in a bunch of easy steps. What makes this possible is a brilliant piece of software engineering known as Mobitrix LockAway- Unlock iPhone Passcode. This method will need a computer, but you will not have to use iTunes. It is much more user-friendly and effective than iTunes.
Why is LockAway the Best Method?
The things about LockAway that make it the best option when it comes to resetting iPhones and iPads include:
- It can be used to remove any kind of screen lock, passcode, biometric lock from iPhones and iPads.
- You can use it to wipe all content and settings from the device without having to enter the passcode.
- The interface is easy to use and intuitive.
- It works for all generations of the iPhone from 5s to 13.
- It can reset the phone immediately without iTunes and the internet.
- It works regardless of Find My iPhone being enabled or not on the target device.
How to Use LockAway to Erase any iPhone?
LockAway does not only have the most impressive set of features of all the tools that can be used for this purpose but is also incredibly easy to use. Here’s how you can use it to erase your iPhone without a passcode:
Step 1 – Download LockAway and install it on your computer. It is available for both Mac and Windows.
Step 2 – Launch the software and tap/click on “Unlock Screen Passcode” and then click “Start.”
Step 3 – Click Download to start downloading the Keyfile package for your phone. Once it has been downloaded and verified, click “Start to Extract.”
Step 4 – Click Start to unlock and then enter “111111” when prompted and click Unlock.
After this, your iPhone will be reset to the factory default status, and any data and settings on the device will be completely removed.
In my opinion, this is the best way to tackle any situation where you do not know the passcode of an iPhone and want to reset it. It is the simplest process of all and takes the shortest time. The phone resets to default, and all your data is erased from the device with immediate effect.
Part 3: Method to avoid
Reset the iPhone via Settings
Even though this method doesn’t need to use computer, but it requires you to enter the passcode, and if you have enabled the Find My iPhone option, you also need to enter the iCloud ID and password.
If you want to use this method, here’s how you can do this:
Step 1 – Open the Settings app and go to General.
Step 2 – Scroll down to the bottom of the list and select Reset (second-last option).
Step 3 – Tap on Erase all Content and Settings.
Step 4 – Enter the passcode to reset the phone.
If Find My iPhone is not disabled, you will need to enter the iCloud ID and password in use on the phone. If you don’t know the ID or password or the screen lock passcode of the iPhone you want to reset, avoid this mothed.
I have listed all the methods that can be used to erase an iPhone if you don’t remember the passcode or the screen lock password of the device. However, in my analysis of all these methods, I noticed two things. First, most of them take a lot of time to complete and are not simple and straightforward to execute. Second, all but LockAway want you to enter the iCloud ID and password.
I don’t know about you, but when my phone is not working, my life stops, and I cannot afford to have my life stopped for a long time. In such a situation, the best option is to use LockAway as it needs no passcode or password and is the fastest of the bunch to get the work done.
